BSIP Extant Objects Cataloguing Policy

This policy is used in the cataloguing of all extant objects.

Inclusion

The BSIP Extant Objects database accepts finds of bowed string instruments, bows, and parts and accessories for instruments and bows. Wheel-based instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, symphony, organistrum etc. are not subject matter for the database and are not accepted.

Primary sources

• All related extant objects with an earliest date in the period 800 CE to 1499 CE.
